FAQs

Every woman deserves a knowledgeable voice.

Birth is not something to be feared.

Too often, birth is surrounded by fear and uncertainty, but it doesn’t have to be. Knowledge is power, and I want women to step into birth feeling informed, prepared, and confident. Birth is not something that just happens to you- it’s a natural process that you can actively experience with trust and understanding.

What is a doula?

A doula is a trained professional who provides emotional and physical support to a woman before, during, and after childbirth.

Do you have a back-up doula?

I work alongside three other certified birth doulas. If there is another labor I am attending or there is an emergency, another doula will attend your labor/birth.

Learn more about Midwest Doula Services

When should I secure my doula services?

Hiring a doula earlier in your pregnancy is recommended, although you can hire me at any time. I provide support through your entire pregnancy, labor/birth, and postpartum experience.

I have a midwife. Should I still use a doula?

Absolutely! A midwife is a medical professional, meaning that the primary focus of their care is on the health and safety of you and your baby. A doula focuses on caring for you emotionally and physically through the trials of labor.

Are doulas only for home births?

I support any and all birth, from midwife-supported home births to birth center births to unmedicated hospital births to scheduled cesarean births.

What are the next steps?

I would love to sit down one-on-one with you and listen to your vision for your birth and further explain my services. Schedule a free consultation with me!

Are we a match?

Every birth is unique, and so is every family’s journey—whether you need a calming presence, a hype squad, or someone to remind you to breathe (and sneak you a snack), I’m here to support you every step of the way!
